Gaz (Gary Schofield)
I suppose you could say Gaz is the main character. Gary
Schofield struggles to afford to keep going financially
but more importantly struggles to afford the money for
his son's child support payments.
It's Gaz who (out of desperation) comes up with the wild
idea to have a go a stripping to get out of the money
situation he finds himself in
Memorable Lines:
Gary: "Folks don't laugh so loud
when you've a grand in your back pocket"
Gary: "Gentlemen, the lunchbox has
landed!"

Dave
Gaz's best mate who struggles with the idea of stripping
due to his weight and looks. Dave feels low due to his
unemployment situation, and this affects the
relationship he has with his wife, both in and out of
bed.
Memorable Lines:
Dave: Anti-wrinkle cream there may be, but
anti-fat-b*stard cream there is not.

Gerald
Hasn't told his wife he's unemployed - even after 6
months !
The bills are mounting up, he can't get a job and to
make it worse for him he realises that he's no longer
above the other lads (Gerald used to be their foreman).
Pride has to take a fall for Gerald in order to bring
the money in

Horse
When Horse walked into the auditions the lads saw an old
man.
When the music came on and Horse did his thing all fears
flew out of the window as the soul man of the group did
his thang !

 |
Lomper
Attempting suicide when we first meet him. Lomper is
another tossed on the steel scrapheap and is the quiet
one of the bunch. Pale, white and ginger, Lomper goes
along with the plan to strip out of desperation and also
the sense of belonging the group brings to him at his
lowest time.
Memorable Line:
Dave: "The less I eat, the fatter I
get"
Lomper: "So stuff yourself and
get thin!"
|
| |
 |
Guy
In the audition he admits he can't sing, he can't dance
(in fact he struggles to come up with anything that he
CAN do !).
But then he drops his trousers, causing Gaz to choke on
his cigarette when he see's Guy's 'monty python'.
Even Gerald pops his head over his newspaper to have a
look at it.
He's quickly snapped up to join the group..

Nathan
This is Gaz's lad. He wants nothing more than his dad to
be a success and to take him to the Sheffield United
games on a Saturday. He believes in his dad and it's
this belief that keeps Gaz going through the tough
times.
Memorable line:
Police Inspector: "So your daddy
dances in front of you, does he?"
Nathan: "Only when he's
rehearsing"
